Commercial Toaster Ovens

by Andy on September 30, 2011

Commercial toaster ovens are popular pieces of equipment in the professional kitchen because they heat up so quickly and combine the convenience and design of both a toaster and an oven. Since they are so versatile, they are often used in the place of a regular oven for a lot of tasks. In particular, toaster ovens are great for keeping food hot, or heating it up. In the pro kitchen, its common to find up to 2000-watt commercial stainless steel ovens.  Since cleanliness is a major concern, many of these have a brushed stainless steel finish for easy cleaning.

For the home, possibly the best convection ovens are the top quality Cuisinart TOB-175BC. This oven has excellent performance due to convection heating (which excels at baking and browning food) and has two large racks. Toaster ovens for the home come in a range of styles and colours, including red, black, white and steel.

For commercial grade toaster ovens, we need to look elsewhere. Here are a selection..

Waring WCO250 Commercial Convection Toaster Oven

Waring have been making products for commercial kitchens for more than 60 years, so they should be a name you can trust. They manufacturer a range of household & commercial grade toaster ovens.

One possible candidate is the Waring WCO250. This oven is a quarter sized, heavy duty convection oven which gives you the options of convection baking, roasting, baking, broiling & using a rotisserie. Its an excellent oven for cooking foods like roasts, pizzas & breads. Cooking chicken is a snap by using the rotisserie. You’ll also get a stainless steel drip pan which can double as a baking sheet, and two baking racks. It’s brushed stainless steel heavy duty finish with stainless steel interior, make this a popular choice.

The WCO250 has a big brother, namely the WCO500, which is a half size commercial toaster oven. With its 1.5 cubic feet interior, stainless steel finish and clear-view tempered glass window, its another option, albeit a little larger. You get the convection bake, roast, bake, broil & rotisserie, plus stainless steel baking tray and 1700 watts power.

Waring also make the Waring Pro CO1500B Professional 1.5-Cubic-Foot Convection Oven with a 1.5 cubic foot interior, 4 rack positions, temperature control know and 2 hour rotary timer. There is even a button to switch between 6-slice and 4-slice toasting. You’ve got a reheat & defrost button plus automatic shut off. While this toaster oven may not be heavy duty enough for a commercial kitchen, its certainly one that households should consider.
